In 1962, Rachel Carson published her classic book Silent Spring, the first non-fiction work of its kind linking the use of synthetic chemicals to environmental hazards. While many people have probably never read Silent Spring, ALL of us have been impacted by her enormous influence in our society.
“In Rachel Carson’s Shadow” is a unique presentation topic only available during 2012, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of this historic book. This event is a perfect presentation for book lovers and conversationalists, as I weave together excerpts of Silent Spring with my book Little Changes.
It’s a great introduction and tribute to Rachel Carson, as we examine the fate of the Western Grebe all the way to our present-day environmental concerns. What did she teach us? How have we progressed? We’ll discuss all these issues and more in this dynamic and stimulating presentation.
